July 3rd We're Having A Party
We’re having a 4th of July barbecue tomorrow. A little sudden I know. A couple of weeks ago we made up invitations and sent them to Ken Harrison who went up and down the road knocking on doors and inviting the neighbors. Who will come no one knows, but it doesn’t really matter, at least they know we want to be neighborly. I know Lisa and Chris will be here with their daughters Quinn-11, and Phoebe - 7.
The prospect of having a party in my filthy, disgusting house is not suiting me very well, so we’ve decided to keep the shindig entirely outside. We don’t have anything, even chairs so I’m putting Tom in charge of making benches out of logs while I run around and do the errands.
We really, really don’t have anything. I’ve got tables to buy at Costco™ and some sort of floral tablecloths, platters, baskets and other sundry items at Ross™. Plastic forks, plates, napkins, cups and I want to make lemonade so I need a container and also tongs if Tom is going to make red, white and blue homemade French fries “excuse me, I mean Freedom Fries”. I don’t even have a vase to decorate the table so I bought a couple pairs of rain boots to stuff flowers in and for a centerpiece I found this large blue, rusted old metal milk can. I’ll just have to try my best to channel Martha and hope all goes well.
